Pre History
Lately Zangief has not been the same. Any pro wrestler cowers before his piledriver, but Zangief knows it needs improvement to meet his standards. As he trains, he gets frustrated because he cannot advance the piledriver. A sudden storm strikes and he is caught in the vacuum of a tremendous cyclone. It tosses Zangief around and sends him spinning back down to earth headfirst. He drops to the ground with a great thud. A few seconds later, great laugher breaks out across the mountains and rivers. Zangief has found his inspiration.

However, one thing is certain, his Screw Pile Driver is as powerful as usual, a product of a life-long effort After hearing what sounded like a fracture in his training room, Zangief thought to himself. "Vodka gives my body moisture, but when there's nobody to challenge, it simply ends up sweating itself out!" Zangief returns to his fighting days, showing the world the potential of Russia.

Zangief realizes almost too late that Bison is leading him to an early death. Even though Zangief defeats Bison, he is tormented by the terrible crimes he committed in Bison's name. Zangief leaves Shadaloo City and is never heard from again.

Street Fighter: The Movie (Console) endings
After realizing that Bison had lied to him, Zangief left Shadaloo and returned to his home in Moscow. There he returned to the wrestling ring and quickly found that no one was a match for him. Undefeated and without much of a challenge, Zangief now spends a little of his time as part of Colonel Guile's security force and rest training for his visits to Honda's dojo in Japan.

The Tournament Begins
Back when Russia was part of the Soviet Union and unemployment was rare, Zangief made his living by wrestling American grizzly bears. He never lost a match, although he lost considerable amounts of flesh and blood. Now he works for the Russian president as a bodyguard when he's not slamming opponents in the converted chemical factory that serves as his home.

The Tournament Begins Anew
A man who trains with polar bears in Siberia should not be taken lightly. Zangief is the greatest professional wrestler the Soviet Union has ever produced and his ferociously muscular body is packed with blazing passion and love for his home country. He is a patriot to his very core and is disgusted at acts of selfish evil.
Zangief is ready to prove he is the strongest fighter in the world and fights for his land and the little ones who look up to him.
