Storyline

A Whole New Shell Game
The Turtle with a temper, Raphael would rather butt heads than talk out a problem. With his bloodred bandanna and his twirling sai, Raphael can fly off the handle at the slightest transgression.

Heroes in a Half Shell
Sarcastic, angry, and the king of saijutsu, Raphael is one Turtle you don't want to mess with. Mutated to his present state by a goo called Retromutagen Ooze, Raph was trained by his master Splinter to be a fierce ninja with expertise with the sai. He also has a fierce temper, which often gets him in trouble.
TMNT: Mutant Melee
Mutant Melee Endings
Raphael helps his injured brothers back to the Lair to give the news of their triumph to Master Splinter, and to receive the requisite scolding for going topside alone. One thing this adventure has taught Raph is that teamwork, and utilizing everyone's different skills, are the only true ways to achieve victory. A Banzai attitude and some well-honed ninja skills don't hurt, either.

Fun Facts
Shared Origin
Part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' origin story - with the young boy pushing a blind man out of the way of a speeding truck full of radioactive goop - mirrors that of Daredevil's. This, and the addition of their master Splinter's name being a parody of Daredevil's master Stick - culminate to an obvious parody of the Marvel title. However, TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman has revealed via interviews that in his mind, the two events were one in the same, meaning that the boy that saved the blind man in TMNT was a young Matt Murdock. Of course, this makes little sense considering the fact that TMNT has such a rigid canon timeline, and Marvel's works on a sliding scale, but there you have it.
