Four-color Palette Swap
Shuma's primary color switch from pink in Marvel Super Heroes to green in MSH vs. SF owes to the fact that Marvel never had much of a handle on his color either. Although green is apparently his "correct" color, he has appeared pink in several instances (including his first appearance).

Enough Cross-Canon To Make Your Head Spin
Shuma-Gorath is undoubtedly one of the most peculiar characters in Marvel canon, but his roots (tentacles?) run much deeper than the surface.
Shuma-Gorath is first invoked by name in "The Curse of the Golden Skull", a posthumously published Kull the Conqueror short story by Robert E. Howard. A few years later, the name was used by Marvel Comics for a demonic entity as an adversary of Dr. Strange's.
This would all come full-circle when Shuma Gorath appeared in Marvel Comics' adaptation of another of Howard's creations, Conan the Barbarian.
