Deluxe Melee
The son of the lord of Pharae Principality, Roy was studying in Ostia when the Kingdom of Bern invaded League of Lycia. His father fell ill at this time, so Roy assumed leadership of Pharae's armies. After his fateful meeting with the Princess Guinevere, his destiny became inextricably linked with the fate of the entire continent.

Fun Facts
Fighting Origin/Non-Fighting Origin
Despite being billed as being from the Fire Emblem series, Roy actually appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee prior to his debut in Fire Emblem the following year. Roy was inserted into Melee for the purpose of creating hype for the upcoming game, Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi (The Binding Blade).
Missing Veterans and Newcomers
Super Smash Bros. Brawl includes unused character data for many characters that did not appear in the game, including Dixie Kong, Mewtwo, Roy, Dr. Mario, Toon Zelda, Toon Sheik, and "Pra & Mai". While it's not known who Pra & Mai are for sure, it's possible that they were to be Plusle & Minun from Pokémon. Strangely enough, Sheik, at the time of Brawl's release, had never been seen in cel-shaded form.
