Genre Indecision
Makeruna! Makendo 2 is obviously the sequel to something, but not another fighting game. The first game in the series is a SNES platforming-actioner that was released in English as "Kendo Rage."
A third game, Makeruna Makendo Z, was released for the PCFX. That one's an RPG.
The heroine from the first game, Mai Tsurugino, appears as a hidden character in Makendo 2.

Who is this Guy?
Makendo 1 and 2 have both been aided by "spirit detective" Doro-san in cutscenes.
He was known in Kendo Rage as Osaki "Bob" Yoritomo, a kendo master.
