Light of Hope
Jun Kazama, the mother of Jin, is a practitioner of the Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts. Jun displayed a propensity in communicating with animals from a very young age. She went on to become a wildlife surveillance officer for a conservation group where she pursued Kazuya Mishima, who was suspected of smuggling protected animals. The two met and became close at the second The King of Iron Fist Tournament. Soon after, Jun became pregnant with Jin. Jun went on to raise Jin in the same place where she was born, in the remote mountains of Yakushima. However, seven years ago, one day when Jin turned 15 years old, Jun was attacked by a mysterious being known as Ogre and disappeared without a trace.

Fun Facts
Not Officially Dead
From series producer Katsuhiro Harada:

"About JUN, there seem to be a lot of fans that think that Jun has died in the official storyline. That isn't exactly true.

From Jin's perspective in the story, he believes his mother, Jun, has died. This is the correct interpretation.
After the release of TEKKEN 3, I have officially stated to the press that objectively, and officially, Jun's whereabouts are unknown.

So this is the official stance that has been stated repeatedly. Even so, the belief that she has died is spread and some "official storylines" have also mistakenly incorporated this myth so I guess it can't be helped. "
Sisters in Discontinuity?
According to the Tekken 6 art book, Tekken Tag Tournament was originally a canon game, and the character that eventually became Unknown was originally developed as Jun Kazama's sister. Since TTT eventually became a dream match, it is uncertain if this detail can be considered canon.

However, in TTT2, Jun actually becomes Unknown after defeating her one round in the game's single player mode.
