Pre History
The Sentinels are a "race" of giant androids created for the sole purpose of "protecting" humanity from mutants. Unfortunately, a flaw in their programming logic caused the Sentinels to believe that ruling humanity was the best course to protect them. The Sentinels' creator, Bolivar Trask, wishing to mend his errors, as well as make things right with mutants after The X-Men showed him that not all were evil, assisted the team in the destruction of the Master Mold, the Sentinel that produced others of its kind. Trask was killed in the resulting explosion, but sadly, his work on Sentinel development was continued by others.

Fate of Two Worlds
Invented by Dr. Bolivar Trask, Sentinels have one purpose...to destroy or capture mutants. There have been many different types of Sentinels employed by different groups.
