There's no cure for stupidity.
Due to some catastrophic incompetence new user sign ups have been totally tanked for longer than I'd like to admit. Thankfully that issue is now resolved. If by some chance you are a returning soul who was once spurned by that infernal box in the upper right hand corner, I invite you to try again and join our awesome family. In the event that you can't (or you have any other feedback for the site), please post on our facebook page and let us know.

Fight-A-Base can survive anything-- even nukes!
Long time no update. It's been a few weeks of set backs on the development side, things that should've worked didn't, things did work that I decided I hated, etc. As such, what went up today is a hodgepodge of half baked ideas that I have cobbled together into a functional update.
Of greatest note, the series pages are back. We've been without them for a long while, and it provided me an opportunity to try out some new formatting stuff which will be spreading to other areas of the site. Only admins have the ability to add them and assign games / characters to them, so don't look for a sub.
Secondarily, characters now have a "games" page similar to the "characters" page that games have. It is crazy redundant right now, but because of code limitations I couldn't not upload it. In the coming weeks, it will see some big changes too.
Other than that the pending submissions and updates got some love, the image sub process should be a little easier on everybody. There were also some ui changes done up above and some font stuff here and there, so things don't look so wonky when pages have too much (or too little) content.
Lastly, there were about a million bug fixes because again, this update was really all over the place. Speaking of I've got a new game in development (as it seems like everyone is already bored with the quiz) and while its going to take FOREVER to finish, it should be playable by next update.
As always, stay tuned.

What a Heavy Day
What can I say? The Fight-A-Base is back. It's been over a year of uncertainty but now (despite the truck load of work I still need to do) the BEST SOURCE on the web for fighting game you name it is definitely re-open for business.
I've shifted to a more routine every sunday-ish update schedule, and there's enough submission forms in play to keep contributing types entertained while they wait for more.
Whatever you're here for, I hope you find it and come back for more.

Zipperhead make you dead
I'm back from what would've been a vacation if this was a real job and not a largely irrelevant to the world hobby but thankfully I haven't been entirely idle. You probably already noticed I played with the fonts and header spacing a little bit, now biography rankings are finally back (the sub for which will be available soon, I swear)
You can find the link off the main character select page or by clicking any field in a character profile. As an added bonus, the similar character info is now SUPER ACCURATE taking into account both bios and tags automatically. No more weird clicking and loading and clicking some more.

Come on, weeniemeister. I'll show you my stuff.
Road trips and personal technical difficulties not-withstanding, I did get a chance to make some updates to the site. The most significant of which is that (most of) the content pages use direct links now instead of form submits and java hocus pocus, so no more refresh pop ups and now you can link to a particular character in a particular game's movelist, story, dialogue, etc. There are also ongoing battles with the submission system that I hope to have results from in the near future. I've also made a change to the way tag links are handled, because the old tag page was useless.

I sure have gotten the old stuff back.
Look familiar? God, I hope not. The new stuff runs a trillion times better than before so no more huge lags, no more fades, no more cheats. If you hate it, feel free to sound off and maybe I'll change it back.

With so much riding on my fists. . .
Just a fun little update today wrapped around some bug fixes that will hopefully alleviate some of the bug related insanity that's been going around lately. Dialogue finally has its own page with sims and related links much like everything else on the site. I think its kind of neat, I hope you do too. I've also cleaned up the headers and arranged layouts on the other content pages for consistency and ease of navigation.
Okay, okay, back to my cave.

I got the moves like Jago
Perhaps it is a good day to update. In addition to a lot of random fixes from over the past couple weeks, the new move sub is finally go. I will be updating it over the course of the week with some stuff that's not ready but not essential. Also, the new sub is designed for filling out entire movelists at a time. A more dedicated single move at a time sub is coming up.

Games without releases is bad news, dude!
With characters and games and releases and casting subs all finally operational its safe to say the basics are covered. Now, no Korean PC only alien wrestling sim will ever go undocumented again.
Coming up next I'm going to try and do some fun stuff (the kind of stuff that garners actual hits from the search engines.) so stay tuned.

Tags. . . don't die!
One thing that always bothered me on the old site was when characters picked up fighting styles, plot twists, or even new clothes and there was really no way to capture this information without confusion (Thanks a lot, MK:DA). So, with the return of tag submissions (for characters) comes the ability to slap them specifically on a game. This means if 5 games down the road that boxer picks up a broadsword, we can capture it.
It's still not a perfect answer. There's no effective way to account for tags "lost" or random curveballs in crossovers and dream matches but IMO its one step closer. Give it a whirl.

Fabby New Year
Since I'm already up way too late, I just wanted to drop a quick Happy New Year to everybody who bothers to check this page from time to time. 2013 was kind of a rough year for Fight-A-Base, my own personal life put development on hold and then our host of 6 or so years gave us the boot for flying just a little too close to the sun.
But now we're back and more than a little better for the experience; The site's running on way more recent programming language, the database is faster and more efficient, and I've got a ton of ideas for the future.
Coming up next, I'm taking a break from rebuilding old pages and tables, and planning to finally put the power back in the players hands with some submission forms. I've got much better code for pending, approving, and crediting on the way so getting the site up to date with the last 6 months worth of developments should be a breeze.
I'm eager to see just how big we can grow in 2014, so lets go ahead and get to it. Or rather, lets go ahead and get to it after a good night's sleep.

To strength. To victory. To a one-way ticket to Poughkipsee
I've been on the fence about this whole blogging this since early on in the revamp, but it was always something I wanted to do. Honestly, as the user base grew and spam bots got bolder I was afraid of what it might become, but the god's honest truth is, you guys have proven time and time and time again that Fight-A-Base is one of the most loyal, capable, and trust worthy little families out there, and I'd much rather have to police a few bad eggs then keep the good eggs from doing what they do best.
So here's the deal; Anybody who has already or eventually does clear 200 approvals (you can now see that on in the corner) can now post blog entries to the front page. I made the entry fee 200 to keep people from dropping a few tags and using this site as a livejournal, but I figure anybody whose done 200 records worth of damage deserves a say in the day to day.
If you guys want to use this to post news / links, have at it. If you wanna talk about that get together this weekend, be my guest. If you just want an outlet for that fanfic you wrote way back when, feel free. I only ask that you
a) Keep it clean
b) Keep it about fighters
c) Don't pull any web chicanery or otherwise try to obliterate the page formatting.
So there you have it, boys. Out of the shout and into the streets, as they say. Enjoy.
