The characters name can be read either forward or reversed.
paper_talismans
Uses paper talismans ("ofuda") adorned with various mystic symbology, often used by Eastern mystics and onmyoji in games and anime.
parent
Father or mother to one or more children.
partial_helmet
Wears a helmet that does not completely cover the head.
patriot
Wearing or otherwise adorned with the colors / flag of their native country.
peace_sign
Applies to characters who use the peace sign (palm outwards, index and middle fingers open and all others closed) as part of win poses or in official artwork.
peaked_cap
Wears a military officer- or law enforcement-style peaked cap.
performing_arts
The fighting takes place on or near a stage set aside for performing arts such as dancing, music, and theater.
pervert
Characters that have quite the libidos and have been known to hit on certain other characters on a regular basis.
pet_handler
Accompanied in battle by an ally or "pet," animal or otherwise.
petals
Move is accompanied by imagery of flower petals or utilizes them as a weapon. The most common flower, especially in Japanese-based games/characters, is the cherry blossom (sakura), whereas western characters may be more apt to use roses.
petrify
Character has the ability to turn their opponent to stone.
pets/stands
Characters all have pets or spiritual allies which they can summon or command.
photographer
Proficient with a camera or utilizes photography in their fighting style.
pilot
Helms some sort of plane / ship / mecha.
pink_outfit
Best known for wearing a primarily pink costume.
pirate
Involved in piracy and general swashbuckling activities.
place_of_worship
Can be a church, temple, pagoda, cathedral, synagogue, or any structure that is used for a religious function
plant_life
A living plant, rather than flesh and blood.
platforming
While traditional fighters take place on a single 2D plane, characters here are able to jump between multiple platforms and perhaps over pits.
playing_cards
Uses playing cards as a weapon, be it poker cards, hanafuda cards, or other.
pointed_shoes
Wears any kind of footwear with a type of curve or point at the end of them.
poison
Capable of poisoning the opponent to do damage over time.
polearm
Wields a naginata, spear, halberd, or similar blade-on-a-stick weapon.
police
Associated with law enforcement.
politician
Someone who was elected into office (president, mayor, governor, senator, prime minister, et cetera).
polymorph_other
Ability to either transform one's opponent during battle, usually into something small and relatively helpless, or shrink them.
pompadour
Sports the tightly coiffed hairstyle known as the pompadour.
ponytail
Has one or more pony tails.
possessed
Possessed by a spirit or demon.
post-apocalyptic
Devastated future world
practice_stage
An arena, largely nondescript in most cases, that functions normally as a training facility for the player. May or may not be accessible during normal gameplay.
prehistoric
Takes place during prehistoric times.
pre-rendered
2D sprites with a "3D" appearance, rendered by computer. Rendering is not done real-time by hardware.
primate
Any of a member of a non-human primate species, including (but not limited to), monkeys, chimpanzees, and gorillas. This also can refer to similar species such as primate-like aliens, and the mythological sasquatch/yeti.
profanity
Has a habit of uttering obscene words.
projectiles
Much of combat occurs at range; characters have a variety of "normal" shots to perform. Melee attacks may take a backseat.
prototype
Character was originally created as a concept or redesign for an existing character.
psychic
Uses mental energy in battle.
purple_outfit
Best known for wearing a primarily purple costume.
purple_skin
Skin is purple.
