Tōkidenshō: Angel Eyes developer diary translation from Sudden-Desu

Ryou of Sudden-Desu has posted a translation of an extensive developer diary for the Tecmo arcade and PS1 fighter, Tōkidenshō: Angel Eyes, detailing what went right, all that went wrong, and the game’s overshadowing (and weird coincidences) by Tecmo’s other fighter at the time, something called “Dead or Alive”.

It’s a highly recommended read for anybody who’s interested in behind-the-scenes stuff and the game in general.

Also, the first round of (free!) DLC for the game has been confirmed. A very legit-looking leak image came out a few days ago, but considering how easy it would have been to fake it, it’s good to see it confirmed.

Andy Bogard and Ken Masters from Street Fighter will be released in the summer of this year, Joe Higashi coming in Autumn and SF’s Chun-Li following in the winter. Then early next year, Mr. Big from Art of Fighting will arrive.

MultiVersus Season 5 begins Feb. 4, service ends May 30

Warner Bros. have announced today that although Season 5 of MultiVersus will start on February 4 – adding Aquaman and Lola Bunny – the service will come to a complete halt with the end of S5 on May 30.

Starting today (January 31) all real-money purchases are completely suspended, and once Season 5 concludes, the online modes will cease to function, and it will be removed from all digital storefronts, meaning those who do not already have the game downloaded and updated during Season 5’s run will no longer be able to play the game offline, either.

This comes after a series of misfires which, after an initial period of enthusiastic reception from some, the game was shut down and completely unplayable for almost a year, after which the 11 month period in which it had been available was retroactively declared an “open beta”.

MultiVersus will shut down a year and two days after its relaunch.

Saturn version of Advanced Variable Geo coming in special bundle to contemporary platforms!

The Variable Geo is well-regarded among fans of girls-only roster fighters and indeed fighter fans overall. Other than a downloadable version of the PS1 game on the PS3, there hasn’t been any sort of release since 1999.

Modern players will have a chance to experience Variable Geo for the first time when City Connection releases the compilation Steam-Heart’s & Advanced Variable Geo Saturn Tribute, featuring the Sega Saturn versions of shoot-’em-up Steam-Heart’s [sic] and Advanced V.G. So far it’s only been announced for Japanese release, on May 29 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, PC (via Steam), and Xbox One, with physical PS5 and Switch versions as well.
