 Super NES Version
(4 / 10) Horribly nerfed
by The S on 4/15/2009 12:00:00 AM

On a co-worker's request, I went to find a copy of Street Fighter Alpha 2 for the SNES. Picking up one of the Japanese version dirt cheap on eBay (Street Fighter Zero 2), I decided to check why he had hyped it up as the best version of SFA2. Frankly, I think he has lost his marbles.

Maybe it's the eardrum-shattering MIDI renditions of what used to be decent music, and the vast amount of missing voices and sound effects. Maybe it's the lowered response time in comparison to the other versions. Maybe, just maybe, it's the fact that there's loading time on a f***ing cartridge... whatever the case, this is game is pretty much trash.

This game might have been tolerable, maybe even damn good, if the SNES were still king. But Saturn and Playstation already had better versions spinning in their CD-ROM drives. Worst of all, this game hit stores literally right before the Nintendo 64 dropped. If Capcom would've had just a wee bit of patience and timed the release for the N64, we would have had a better game overall, and we would've actually had a Capcom fighter on the N64.
