After losing both of her parents at a young age, she went to live with a distant uncle who saw her potential for music and taught her the violin while raising her. Her gratitude to him for his dedication, however, turned to regret as he lost his hearing before she could keep her promise to play a concert just for him.

Mikoto was raised by her uncle after losing her parents. Under her uncle's guidance, Mikoto excelled at violin and took top honors at the international music festival in Germany.
Mikoto's uncle lost his hearing shortly after she started college. Mikoto accepts Phantom's offer to become a duelist with the hope of restoring her uncle's hearing.
