Pre History
John Walker idolized his elder brother, who was killed in the Vietnam War, but failed to become a big war hero, himself. Undergoing experimentation from the mad scientist known as the Power Broker, Walker had intention in joining a superhuman fighting circuit, but instead found himself becoming the superhero Super-Patriot. However, Walker's ideals challenged those of America's more commonly-known patriotic superhero, Captain America. Walker called out the captain's reflection in contrast to the American mindset time and again.
Due to the Nazi super villain Red Skull's secret meddling, Steven Rogers abandoned the Captain America identity. Walker took up the identity until Rogers' return. Rogers and Walker fought, with Rogers being victorious, and resuming the mantle. Walker's death was faked and he reemerged as the U.S. Agent.
