Pre History
In the alternate timeline in which Future Trunks is from, most of Earth's warriors have been killed by Androids 17 and 18. Trunks is raised by his mother, Bulma, and trained by the now adult Gohan. Mixing his father's techiques with many of Piccolo's, Gohan and the budding Trunks are the only hope Earth has left against the Androids. At one point, Gohan's arm is severed by the Androids, and eventually, he is killed by them. This triggers Trunks' transformation into a Super Saiyan.
