Lau Chan's only daughter, she has received special instruction in martial arts since early childhood. Though she once hated her father, her attitude towards him has softened after she watched him suffer with illness in his twilight years. As well as being a martial artist, Pai Chan is also a famous actress in her home country.

World Fighting Tournament
Second World Fighting Tournament
Even though Pai is Lau's daughter, there is little love between the two-while Lau pursued his obsessive search for perfection, Pai's mother toiled so hard to support the family that she died of overwork. Pai never forgave Lau for her mother's death, and swore she would someday beat Lau at his own game. Though she didn't have what it took to defeat him in the last tournament, this time she's armed with a few new techniques that just might knock Lau out of the champion's position. And with Lau out of the way, the others should fall like dominoes.
Third World Fighting Tournament
Pai left the Second World Tournament in defeat by her father, Lau. During the fight, Pai began to question herself, “Why would my father forsake his family for his martial arts training?” She came to the realization that perhaps by understanding him, she could finally defeat him.

Pai continued to travel to various locations around the world, working on her world-spanning fighting film. Then, one year and several months later, an invitation for the Third World Tournament arrived. Seeing Lau’s name as one of the competitors, Pai once more, enters the tournament to defeat her father.
Fourth World Fighting Tournament
Pai Chan left the Third World Tournament after being defeated by her father, Lau. Upon returning home, Pai realized that despite her loss, her fighting skills closely matched those of her father. While training to improve her Hisou-Ken, Pai learned that Lau had contracted an incurable disease and yet still planned to compete in the fourth tournament. Determined to prove herself a worthy successor to her father’s legacy, Pai plans to enter the tournament to defeat him.
Fifth World Fighting Tournament
Pai had entered the Fourth World Fighting Tournament out of concern for her sick father, Lau. But before she could see him, she was defeated and had to leave the tournament.
Pai searched for her father afterward, and found him just in time to save the weakened Lau from Lei-Fei’s killing blow. Hit with the realization that Lau did not have long to live, Pai realized that she could do nothing for her father—she had to respect his desire to pursue ultimate strength for as long as he lived.
So when Pai learned that Lau was participating in the fifth tournament, she decided to enter as well, telling herself that the only way she can show her love for her father is to be strong, both emotionally and in combat.
