Storyline
King of Fighters 15, The
Wandering Fencer
Haohmaru is a traveling swordsman determined to master the way of the sword. He is a bold and free-spirited fighter who hates cowardice, and travels from country to country, sake in hand, in search of a match with anyone who can put up a real fight. In order to help his friend Nakoruru, and to fight with new and formidable opponents, he travels far beyond time and space and lands on the KOF stage.

Samurai Shodown
Revival of Azure and Crimson Blades
Haohmaru practices a boisterous, yet reserved swordplay style. Legends are passed around about this fierce warrior. The Holy One, Nakoruru, asks him to combat the destructive force arising and to search for Mikoto. Haohmaru boldly sets off to complete these tasks.
Samurai Showdown
Dedicated to the fighting life, Ha-Oh Maru spends his time training with his most treasured possession, his Fugu Blade, and travelling in search of worthy opponents. A famous warrior, he focuses solely on the moment when fighting, in order to push his limits to the utmost.
Edge of Destiny
When Haohmaru saved the attacked village from bandits, he met a young boy called Takechiyo.
Takechiyo asked Haohmaru to teach him the way of the sword.
It was to be a few years later when Haohmaru and Takechiyo would meet again.
Takechiyo had now grown into a very strong boy.
Both of them were attracted to the ways of the sword, it seemed to be their collective fate to fight each other; however, Takechiyo refused to answer the call to fight as he was distracted by his mission to look for a princess who had escaped from Amori-han.
Haohmaru and Takchiyo promised to have a show-down, and Takechiyo left Haohmaru.

"A blond princess in a mystery ship...,"

Haohmaru whispered.

"The strongest fighters in the world... all in one place, you say?"
That was the rumor circulating around the old post-town. Of course there would be the strongest from the West there, along with weapons and moves he had never seen.
Haohmaru's native land was Musashi. He was born to the family of a poor vassal of the shogun. Along with his 5'7", 141-pound muscular build dressed in a loose kimono, the only possessions he carried with him were his famous sword "Blowfish Poison" and a ceramic sake bottle. Known to be a manly and warm hearted samurai, he now travels from one land to another to perfect his martial arts abilities. Finding an Inn, Haohmaru got his sake bottle filled to the brim.
This was the only preparation he needed before hitting the road.
Samurai Shodown 6
Samurai Shodown 6 Endings
Recorded history leaves us nothing more than legends concerning the path Haohmaru took. There are unconfirmed stories of a great warrior who traveled the lands fighting for justice.

There are some who say he fathered many children, and his blood runs in the veins of kings.

Fun Facts
Mai Shiranui cameo?
Anybody who finished Samurai Shodown with Haohmaru or Gen-an might remember seeing Mai Shiranui in their ending sequences. She appears making a visit to our character's stages, and always ends up executing her Ryu En Bu attack. She seems to kill Gen-an with it, and the result with Haohmaru is unknown (the action freezed).
However, she might as well not be Mai Shiranui herself, since in the dialogue of the Game Boy version ending, she's just quoted as being "Woman" (other versions don't put a name to her words), and it should also be noted that Mai belongs to a different timeline than that of Samurai Shodown.
