 Marvel vs Capcom
(4 / 10) Whaaaaaaat?
by The S on 5/11/2010 12:00:00 AM

Capcom really did a number with Ryu in MvC. Instead of including Ken and Akuma, or, y'know, just completely leaving them out altogether, they arranged to include Super Moves that allowed Ryu to obtain their powers and outfits.

While this makes him a bit more versatile, it's also a terrible cop-out, especially since you can't select which "Mode" you want Ryu to be in from the start, which is terribly aggravating for Ken and Akuma players.

Thankfully, Capcom would reinstate Ken and Akuma in the sequel, and Ryu was returned to his plain ol' vanilla self.

Just as he should be.

Adopted by Gouken, Ryu learned a toned down form of ansatsuken without the killing "touch". However, when he nearly lost to Sagat he lost control and unleashed it. After finally rejecting it, he's been travelling and perfecting his non-lethal yet extremely powerful version of ansatsuken. He's now believed to be practising under the sennin, Oro. Ryu focuses on his training, but has won a few friends and rivals like Ken, Chun-Li, Sagat and Sakura.
